Holy Week

Despite some bitterly cold nights and threatening showers most of Olvera's Easter processions took place as planned.  This mix of photos gives you some idea of the dedication and effort made by the local community, with young and old involved - very impressive.

flamenco

The heart of Andalucia is surely its flamenco, it is inherent in so much of the culture and its influence can be seen and heard in Olvera from impromptu displays to organised events...  if you are in the right place at the right time

What is most impressive, the horse, the dancer or the horseman?  Take your pick

Spanish essentials

I've been trimming the tree and as a consequence have bags of lemons looking for a good home, or better still, a good cook!

A new purchase and definitely an essential in Spain - the coffee pot!

a town with a view

Olvera is blessed with amazing views, especially the streets of the Old Town.  Built on several hills, the elevation enhances the outlook over the surrounding countryside: a patchwork of olive groves and rolling picos, with the Grazalema sierras looming on the horizon - fabulous.

Or turn round and look up towards the two iconic buildings which grace the very top of the hill, the church and the Moorish fort.
